Nitrogen News
Established in Sutton Coldfield in 1981, Mr. Tyre has now expanded across Central England and offers tyres, exhausts, batteries, brakes, servicing and MOTs across the region.
The major benefits of nitrogen filled tyres, over compressed air, are that they stay inflated for longer - reducing tyre wear, improving road handling and increasing fuel efficiency. Kwik-Fit chose the Uniflate Nitrogen Inflation system following successful trials in the Netherlands earlier this year, which led to the installation of over 200 systems countrywide.
Adding Kwik-Fit’s UK outlets extends Tyre Bay Direct’s distribution of the Uniflate Nitrogen Inflation system to around 1,500 European outlets, ranging from fast fits, service centres, MOT bays and car dealerships through to independent fleet users and Borough councils.
The latest supercar to hit the roads arrived in UK dealers from March 2009. The Nissan GTR was launched in Japan in December 2007 and is the first Nissan GTR to be distributed outside of Japan officially under the endorsement of Nissan Europe.
Jeremy Clarkson reviewed the car in June 2008 and in his final verdict announced it “Unfathomably good”. He also stated “The attention to detail has been extraordinary. For instance, the GT-R’s tyres are filled with nitrogen because ordinary air expands and contracts too much. And each gearbox is specifically mated to each handmade engine”
So why does Jeremy think that this is so great? Nitrogen is widely used for tyre inflation in the motor sport and aviation sectors and in a number of European countries for car and commercial vehicle tyres.
